Jane Austen in the American West

The 2023 Jane Austen Society of North America meeting was held in Denver Colorado this past November. The theme was "Pride and Prejudice: A Rocky Romance." The location and theme gave me an opportunity to bring together two things that I love: Jane Austen and the American West. I explored Austen's surprisingly big role in the 1902 seminal Western novel, The Virginian, by Owen Wister. My talk was live broadcast and now appears as an article in Persuasions Online.
